Pookie Alzado

Pookie Alzado was born Daniel Justin Gordon on February 8th 1995 in Oakland, California. He got the nickname Pookie from his cousin when he was born & it stuck with him forever. Growing up 2 cities away in Hayward, he started writing poetry when he was 16 and people encouraged him to rap but he denied to until he was 17. He bought a home studio and put out a EP called Play With Fire. Bringing a East Coast type sound to the wax and being from Hayward was rare in itself, but growing up listening to Wu Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Onyx, Jay Z & other famous East Coast artists & producers like 9th Wonder and DJ Premier cemented his cup of tea. His love for West Coast heroes is no question as his favorite rapper is Eazy E. He said Eric Wright made rapping sound easy to do being Alzado, like Wright did not want to do music the first time around but did the second time and succeeded as one of the greatest rappers in history. After the Play With Fire EP in 2012, he released a mixtape under Ova Tha Top Entertainment called OTT Presents Pookie. He soon left Ova Tha Top and added the Alzado to his name as a dedication to his favorite player Lyle Alzado who is known for his intensity and ruthlessness which Pookie felt he brings that same mentality to the mic.

Not fond of his past work, Pookie Alzado came out with a song that would stick with his legacy forever. A song that everybody knows him by. He’s been a fan of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders since he was 6 years old and wanted to come out with a song about the fans how they’ve endeavored a lot but are still loyal. He released “All In” in 2014 & it was statued into the Raider Nation as one of the main anthems for the fanbase. It got attention from Oakland Raiders players & major artists as well putting Pookie as one of the artists on the front page of Thizzler.com.

In 2016 Alzado came out with a controversial song for the Raider Nation that would change many people’s opinions of him. Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis had continually tried to relocate the Raiders to Portland,Los Angeles,San Antonio & then Las Vegas (which would a year later be their fate) & as a proud Bay Area native Alzado dropped F*** Mark Davis. A remix of YG’s F*** Donald Trump. He felt as if Mark Davis slapped his Bay Area fanbase in the face by not coming to Oakland meetings about a new stadium & when the stadium in Oakland was presented he chose the bright lights in Nevada. Alzado also knows that Oakland city officials played a big role in the Raiders leaving as Oakland has already lost the Warriors to San Francisco & possibly the Oakland Athletics (also Alzado’s favorite teams in their respective sports).

In 2017 he dropped a remix of Tee Grizzley’s First Day Out called “Back”. The season after Raiders starting QB Derek Carr went down with a broken leg at a 12-3 record. The Raiders would finish at 6-10 and fire coach Jack Del Rio who like Alzado is a Hayward California native.

In 2018 he did a remix of F*** Mark Davis and did a music video at the Oakland Coliseum, the same spot he filmed “All In and Back”.

In 2019 Alzado came out with “Last Ride” which was his own version of Joyner Lucas “Devils Work” with it being the Raiders last year in Oakland & the history of the city displayed in the song. He shot the music video at Chapel of Chimes Oakland which is where owner Al Davis was laid to rest. Alzado continues to make songs about his favorite football team no matter the record & also makes music about his life & real life situations.

Pookie Alzado has also worked with Lil Rue and Spice 1.
